Our NET at St. Rose

My name is Ms Tomaszek and I’m a NET at St. Rose of Lima’s School. I grew up in Warsaw, Poland and spent a large chunk of my adult life in the United Kingdom, mostly in the Cotswolds, followed by moving to Hong Kong in 2019. I hold a degree in Applied Linguistics (BA) and Applied Linguistics and Second Language Acquisition (MSc). I have always been very passionate about languages; my childhood dream was to become a language teacher, which is exactly what I did!

I’m a fluent user of three languages (English, Polish and French) and an avid book reader. Apart from languages, I’m passionate about animals. I admire them in all forms and shapes (apart from mosquitoes). I travel the world in search of the most unique creatures which my husband, a wildlife photographer, captures with his camera.

I feel very blessed to work at St. Rose of Lima’s School, where I can contribute to designing an exceptionally creative English curriculum and planning exciting activities for our wonderful girls.

Our English Curriculum

Instead of using textbooks, we use authentic, quality texts which include books related to the topics, newspaper and magazine articles, songs, web pages, radio & TV broadcasts, films, leaflets, flyers and posters in our teaching as they cater for our students' needs and interests.

Other than teaching the four language skills (reading, writing, listening and speaking), we incorporate values education in our teaching.  This year one of our focuses is to incorporate the Seven Habits of Effective People into our curriculum in response to the major concern of our school.  Here are some of the students’ works:
